Teens at Cemetary
For many young people this is an all too familiar scene. Is this the results of a drive by gang shooting, an overdose of an illegal substance, or perhaps a drunk driving accident?
I am happy to say that none of these irresponsible acts were involved in this situation. The young people are members of True Step Ministries (TSM) and they are not mourning the death of a close friend, but are "actors" involved with the taping of a video segment for Pacific Press Publishing, a christian publishing house located in Boise, Idaho. That's not to say that this was all done without any real emotion or tears. On the contrary, for many of the young people, this was a very difficult shoot, for some have known friends whose lives have ended this way. This is in part what True Step Ministries is all about; helping young people, who are "at risk", come to grips with the reality of certain behaviours, and seek the power of God in their lives to transform them into His image, that He may use them in ways they never would imagine.
TSM Youth members had the opportunity to work with a professional video company, Bona Ventura Productions, in the making of the video piece. This was a challenge for all. The freezing temperature and wind, tested the resolve of more than a few. But the enjoyment and challenge to learn the art of taping an event, and making it meaningful to those who see it, was more than enough to overcome the weather's chill. TSM teens learned the importance of lighting and shadow, setting the camera to get just the right angle, and working harmoniously together as a team in order to accomplish their goals.
